Sober Living-- New Opportunities for Growth and Development

Wellness is a concept that has been implied in the world of physical health and fitness. Wellness is an important dimension in recovery from substance addiction and in relapse prevention. A wellness mindset contributes to embracing a lifestyle that promotes continued physical, psychological, social, and spiritual health and growth.

Here are some valuable tools for wellness and relapse prevention:

  1. 1. Actively participate in your chosen recovery program. For the 12-Step program, develop a working relationship with a sponsor, and attend support group meetings. If you choose another recovery program, take advantage of all the available support it has to offer.
    2. A therapist specially trained in addiction can help you identify the personal "triggers" that can increase the risk of relapse and assist with effective coping strategies.
    3. Reassign your priorities to daily self-care and engaging in activities that support Recovery. These can include exercise, good nutrition, and a regular sleep schedule. Other important strategies include interaction with supportive people, relaxation, meditation, hobbies, and daily reading of affirmations.

Promote increased self-esteem and energy on your journey to sustained Recovery. I look forward to meeting you!
